What has been the greatest memory as a high school player?
My freshman year was fantastic, and our last game was huge. We put down a good team to win conference and stay undefeated for the season. It was a great feeling. But then starting Varsity as a sophomore, I’ll always remember my first start. We have a school of 2,000 and it isn’t often that a sophomore makes the cut, much less at left tackle. I was nervous going in, but proud to hold my own against the senior DE’s across from me.
What motivates you to play football?
It is just something that I have always been passionate about. Now that I’m playing varsity, it gives me the opportunity to represent my school and community. I feel the pressure of that. I also do it to protect my brothers on the field. I’ve been guarding Dayne’s blind side since 7th grade, and have been on teams with some of these guys since 1st grade. Castle football is a family, and I’ve worked hard to do my part for them.
Do you have any relatives or family members who have played the game?
My cousin Cory Julian was a quarterback for Tecumseh, and led them to semi-state in 2003. I have a large family and they all support me – usually have a large cheering section. None of them really pushed me to play – I just have loved it since I was a kid, and they love watching me play.
What are you looking for in a college?
I want a college that will provide me a great education, but still allow me to play for a strong program. I’m pretty open in terms of size and location. I’m also looking for a strong coach connection, and have already had some good conversations with a few outstanding O-line coaches.
